Full Details
Tucked at the end of a quiet cul de sac, this detached family home presents generous accommodation set on a corner plot with a driveway and an integral garage. After over a decade living here as a family of five, now two out of three children have flown the nest, it’s time to pass the property to new residents to enjoy for years to come.
Purchased with a growing family in mind, the owners appreciated how central the house is to all their academic needs—Mark Rutherford School and Goldington Academy are within walking distance, and Bedford University is close by. For dog walks, Putnoe woods and Mowsbray Park are both around 15 minutes away by foot/paw, and this family also likes to stroll around Priory Country Park just a short drive away. There are shops, services and amenities in the Putnoe locality, for example, a library, butchers and bakers.
Bedford centre is 10-15 minutes away by car, and the railway station is to the east of the centre, providing services into London, Milton Keynes and beyond. The town has lots to offer, with the owners recommending Frescoes independent coffee house.
For at-home meals, they opened out the kitchen and dining room in 2018 to create an open plan area both Mr and their youngest son say is their favourite room. It’s fitted in a wide range of cream shaker-style cupboards and drawers, with wood worksurfaces, brick-tiled splashbacks, and floor-level lighting. A corner pantry cupboard is perfect for storing all your ingredients. Integrated appliances include an AEG oven and separate grill, an AEG five-ring gas hob with extractor, and a dishwasher too.
A utility room adjoining the kitchen has space for further appliances such as a washing machine and tumble dryer, and allows for convenient access to the garden and the garage.
Mrs’ favourite room is the conservatory. She loves how open, sunny and light it is, the outlooks over the trees from the surrounding windows, and that she can sit inside feeling like she’s outside on windy or rainy days. The sliding doors from the kitchen into the conservatory make entertaining in these two rooms seamless, which is likely why the family spend most their time gathering here.
We love the lounge, with its beautiful dark wood parquet flooring, and the box bay window giving the room brightness. There are lovely features in this home—white plantation shutters, wood effect flooring across most the ground floor, the attractive stone hearth fireplace in the lounge.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, an en suite shower room to the master, and the family bathroom. The master is a great size with ample room for wardrobes and drawers, bedroom two is a double, and bedrooms three and four are good-sized singles. The bedrooms to the rear of the house have views to the park.
Outside, the corner plot affords a higher level of privacy, especially due to there being no houses behind. The majority of the garden is laid to patio for various seating and outdoor dining areas. There’s a slate patch with lighting, positioned next to a raised barbeque platform. This garden has plenty of space for children and pets to run around, perhaps a trampoline or paddling pool, as well as a shed to tidy them away in the winter.
To the front, the tarmac driveway delivers off-road parking for one vehicle, with a gravelled area for an extra parking space if needed. The integral garage adds a third parking space, or excellent storage provision if preferred. For extensive storage, the main loft covers almost the whole footprint of the property, and a secondary loft covers the utility and garage.
