Property Summary
Full Details
Situated in family-friendly and wildlife-focused Wixams is this pristine link-detached property, with spacious living throughout, plenty of storage, plus a beautiful rear garden and a car port.
The show home when built, there are advantages not always seen at a newbuild. The developer installed an alarm, thermal panels on the roof for heating hot water, and they landscaped the garden too. Over the years, the owners have added to the array of planting in the garden, which now sees colour and life from sweet peas and peonies, foxgloves and cornflowers, and screening from tall trees. Flowers and shrubs are set around a central circular lawn, and there are slate seating areas at each end, with a spot under wisteria for a bench. The owners also laid a deck along the side of the house for more secluded outdoor seating. To the front of the house, there are low-maintenance pebble patches, and the gated car port to the side provides covered off-road parking and storage, perhaps even sheltered outdoor gym space.
Inside, the owners have kept the place in immaculate condition, and it still feels like a show home today. Soon after they purchased the property in 2018, they replaced all the carpets and repainted every room. What first appealed to them about this house was the three bedrooms, allowing for family to stay in the second bedroom, and for an office in bedroom three. The primary bedroom is a very generous size, and benefits from an en suite shower room. Both the en suite and the bathroom were refitted a few years ago, in contemporary white suites, with chrome fixtures and fittings, and fully tiled in grey. There’s also a downstairs cloakroom.
Something they’ve come to appreciate at the home is the level of storage on offer. There’s a double wardrobe in bedroom one, ample space for wardrobes in bedroom two, an airing cupboard on the landing (housing the huge hot water tank), as well as a deep understairs cupboard in the hall. The loft is part-boarded, and there’s potential to convert into accommodation (stp) if needed.
Downstairs, the living space is bright, airy, and has high ceilings. The lounge is the owners’ favourite, especially in summer with the French doors open, coming in and out of the garden. The room is more than big enough for comfy sofas for film nights, an armchair for reading, and a play area for little ones.
To the front of the house is the kitchen/dining room. This was updated a couple of years ago, and now has a farmhouse feel, with painted cabinetry and wood work surfaces. There’s a new Franke sink and drainer, and new integrated appliances including an induction hob, a fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. The dining area is a great size for family gatherings and daily meals alike, and for homework and art and crafts at the table after school.
This property is perfect for a family, and the location is too. Wixams was built with wildlife in mind, and features lakes you’ll see swans swimming on, parks for playing, and green spaces for walking, running and cycling. There are on-site schools, amenities for everyday essentials, events and activities for all ages, and you’ll find all sorts of home-based businesses, from beauty to baking.
The market towns of Ampthill and Woburn are a short drive away for a range of cafés and restaurants, and there are country pubs aplenty in surrounding villages. The county town of Bedford is just up the road, Milton Keynes city centre is about 20 minutes away, and the development is near to major road networks such as the A1 and the M1. For commuting, you can reach the capital with ease via Flitwick or Bedford station, and Wixams is soon to see a new station.
